Next workshop organised by EMDR Sussex:

Developing EMDR Competencies: Troubleshooting Towards Accreditation

Friday, 22nd February, 2019, 1.30-5.00pm at City Coast Centre, North Street, Portslade, BN41 1DG.

This half-day workshop is aimed at all EMDR therapists, whether you have just completed your training or are well on your way to becoming an accredited practitioner. It is a skill-building workshop aiming to help therapists think about the EMDR competencies needed, where they are at with these competencies and developing them further.

The workshop is based on the EMDR Association’s Competency Framework. It is a comprehensive set of competencies necessary for competent and safe practice of EMDR, including patient selection, history taking, assessment, target selection and all the phases of the basic protocol.

These are the competencies that need to be demonstrated in order to become an accredited practitioner but are relevant for all EMDR therapists.

Case conceptualisation within the AIP model is one of the competencies that therapists often struggle with and the workshop will dedicate some time on this, helping therapists to develop these skills further.

There will be a live supervision session with an EMDR consultant, helping to link these competencies to clinical practice, through discussion of a real case.

Speakers:

Clare James, EMDR Consultant and Supervisor, Private Practice, Specialist in Early Developmental Trauma in Children, Adolescents and Adults

Ines Santos, Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Consultant and Supervisor, NHS- Trauma Lead for Brighton and Hove Assessment and Treatment Service; and private practice.

Kelly Cahill, EMDR and CBT therapist, NHS- Clinical Lead- Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Mental Health Service (IAPT); and private practice.
